Snowman Or Snowbird?

Remember my smelly pinata from my previous post? He finally dried out, is 'smell' free, and ready to be transformed by the fairy wand ... 'cough'....change that to fairy glue stick.

I kinda sorta followed this pinata tutorial shared by SKIP TO MY LOU
Oh the joys of doing a craft project...sticky fingers, bits of crepe paper stuck here and there, inhaling craft spray glue...yup, Martha Stewart I'm not.  Ready for the big unveiling?  Close your eyes until I say, two, three...OPEN

HaHaHa...he is so funny looking...This is why I'll say that this guy is a work in progress.  I keep thinking he looks more like a bird! his nose to pointed?  Oh well.  Poor thing is destined to end up totally annihilated by my nieces and nephews; who are quite a spirited bunch.

Okay, enough chit snowman is asking for a hat .. and a mouth !  He'll probably be asking for christmas cookie next. sigh.

Happy Day (*^-^*)

Ahhhh..Huge Project...All Done

By the window is a paper mache snowman pinata; still soggy from two days ago; patiently waiting for a bit of sunshine to help it dry out. is starting to stink a bit and seems to have contracted measles; with little spots here and there.  It’s been raining off and on for the past few days; which doesn’t help Mr. Snowman  at all.  If worse comes to worse, I could spray him with a bit of Lysol and for the spots?…the crepe paper will do the job to cover his ’blemishes’.   Or if worse comes to worse comes to worse; never fear…Walmart is near!
took him out for a bit of sun but the rain started up in minutes..poor thing
I had a great morning!  I volunteer at a nearby elementary school; helping a 3rd grade class with reading assignments.  I wanted to give kids (all 29 of them) a little something for Christmas but the challenge was keeping the cost down.  After a bit of pondering, I decided to sew each a water bottle holder instead of making a goodie bag filled with snacks and little what nots.  The kids LOVED them.  One of the girls hugged her holder. SO CUTE.

I made 16 of these ...
... and 13 of these
But my great morning didn’t end there.  The class joined in with other 3rd graders to help the Kindergarteners with making gingerbread houses.  I was thrilled to watch the kids work together to create the most lovely gingerbread houses.  The kids never hesitated to think about what to do; their little hands constantly moving, each decorating their little houses in different ways with marshmallows, teddy grahams, m&ms,  jelly beans, candy corn.  I felt blessed to be in their company.

A Mad Dash

I started on this post last night, lying in bed with my computer on my stomach.  I was so very tired.  I love the holiday season, but I would love it better if I could simply enjoy.  No gift giving, No parties, No Nothing.  Just enjoy.  I went to the shopping center one day, it was a beautiful day...fresh cool winds, blue skies...Hawaiian music...  I would have liked to sit with a cup of tea and enjoy...watching the shoppers, the children...listening to the if watching a play; with people bustling on stage and me, in the quiet, still audience..simply enjoying.

Oh yes, no rest for the weary this time of year...baking for Thanksgiving, volunteering the entire weekend at a craft fair at the Hawaii United Okinawan Center to feed about 150 volunteers a day, meeting friends for lunch, making 2 Bucilla Christmas Felt Stockings for grand nephews in Ohio, sending off a goodie box to son in Seattle, making felt gift card holders for my pen pal friends in North Carolina, mailing etsy purchases (all 3 of them!! LOL), shopping at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, Pearlridge Shopping Center, multiple trips to Target and Walmart (buying stuffs & returning stuffs), so many hours perusing  AMAZON, trips to fabric store to find fabric for my next HUGE holiday project (more on that later), going to craft fairs (of course), planning our annual Family Christmas party...whew!...I think I'll go back to bed now.

I did do one thing for myself the other day; going to Starbucks for tea and a gingerbread biscotti.  Yes, it was nice to breathe a moment, and simply enjoy.

For now I leave you with my felt gift card holders....
this guy was patterned after one I saw in the store
and this fellow was patterned from a drawing my artist son did for me, his thankful mom
.... until next time .... simply enjoy ....

happy day (*^-^*)
